The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Earthquake Science Center (ESC) has a requirement for a contractor to build the site infrastructure for geophysical monitoring stations throughout California that will contribute critical earthquake data to ShakeAlert Earthquake Early Warning systems, National Volcano Early Warning systems, Induced Seismicity hazard monitoring systems, and other similar life-safety geophysical monitoring systems. Initially, fifteen seismic stations in Northern California used to monitor Mount Shasta, Lassen National Park, and Long Valley Caldera volcanic areas will be upgraded. Another fifteen seismic stations supporting ShakeAlert will be either built or upgraded, plus another nine seismic stations will have wildfire mitigation construction undertaken to improve station resiliency. Beyond these seismic stations, additional similar construction is anticipated at other locations within California within the 5-year period of this contract
The project scope includes the installation of equipment vaults, DC power system (including solar array), grounding system, telemetry infrastructure, and drainage system that comprises a seismic station. Skills necessary include demolition, excavation, concrete, electrical (specifically DC and solar), general construction, and landscaping/site restoration.

The anticipated award will be for a contract with a (5) year ordering period with an estimated start date of September 15, 2026.
The USGS is contemplating an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity Contract in accordance with the procedures of RFO FAR Part 36, entitled, (Construction and Architect-Engineer Contracts) and RFO FAR Part 12, entitled, (Acquisition Of Commercial Products and Commercial Services).
Solicitation 140G0326Q0184 will be made available through the SAM.gov on or about August 12, 2026, IAW RFO FAR 5.101(a).
