The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) seeks a contractor to perform the life-cycle replacement of the Full Mission Ship Simulator (FMSS) 4K Digital Light Projector (DLP) laser projectors currently installed in Samuels Hall, located at 300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, NY 11024. Additional details and technical requirements are provided in the attached draft Statement of Work.
The requirement includes removal of existing projectors, installation of new units, integration with the current simulation environment, and verification of full operational capability. Further information is provided in the statement of work (SOW) and reference attachment(s) for this project.
Interested companies must respond to below questions as a part of the market research purposes only and submit a copy of their capability statement with the responses to the questions:
1. Provide your company’s name, address, POC email, phone number, size of your business under NAICS code 334220 .
2. Do you have a GSA eBuy contract for similar requirement? If so, what is the GSA contract number? GSA SIN number?
3. NAICS code is 334220. Any suggestion for any other NAICS code that could be applicable?
4. Suggestion for any available existing Federal contract for this requirement? If so, what is the contract number?
5. Do you have any previous experience installing a projection system for any simulation facilities? If yes, please explain and would you be able to provide a point of contact for those facilities?
6. The USMMA is looking for a complete end-to-end projection system to replace the current projection system installed in 2018 if you are selected what would be your approximate turnaround time to order all the equipment needed and how long do you think you would need to do the installation?
7. USMMA is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Provide a relevant example that demonstrates capability that all work associated with the project will meet and/or exceed the standards provided in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and guidelines for applying the standards published by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior 36 CFR 67.7 - Standards for rehabilitation?
8. After the installation is complete, what type of support is provided if needed and does your company provide an additional warranty on top of the manufacturer’s warranty?
9. USMMA has a large projection theater and will need large format projectors to fill a 240-degree curved screen plus two independent 30 degree rear screens. How does your company account for the curvature of the projection screen and edge blending? Is there specific software you use? Does it work with Kongsberg Maritime Inc. K-sim navigation simulation software?
10. Can the contractor provide a brief description of similar work they have successfully completed within the last five (5) years?
11. Any suggested rough estimate for this requirement for the base and four one-year options?
12. Request contractor’s review on the draft Statement of work and provide comments and submit your comments along with the responses to the RFI questionnaires and capability statement before the closing of the RFI as specified below.
All responses must be emailed to durba.ray@dot.gov and ravilusd@usmma.edu by the August 06, 2026, 2pm EST as a part of the Request for Information (RFI) for Market Research purposes only. Government must not be charged for any expenses contractors incurred to respond to this RFI.
