This market research notice is being conducted by Network Contracting Office (NCO) 17- VA South Texas (VASTHCS) facilities.
The VISN 17 Center of Excellence, located at 4800 Memorial Drive, Building 93, MRI W93, Waco, TX 76711 has requested an MRI Compatible Projector. Vendor will provide a system that meets the outlined specifications below. Additionally, vendor will provide training for Techs and other designated personnel.
The center requires the Hyperion 2 projection system from Psychology Software Tools (PST) specifically. It is designed to display visual stimuli in an MRI environment. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) utilizes powerful magnetic fields, which can be dangerous to people and machinery if the equipment is not properly engineered and tested. The projector s electrical components and stands must be built from non-magnetic materials and must work with a system of mirrors to allow the participant to view visual displays while in the middle of the MR machine. As you can imagine this is problematic for computerized machinery, particularly since all components and cables must also be shielded by radio-frequency pulses sent out by the MR machine. Due to these difficulties and strict safety guidelines, few companies produce MRI compatible visual display systems.
All items listed below are required to complete our Projector system needs:

Additional Information:
Our MRI lab is already fitted with an aging Hyperion 1 system, that is uniquely compatible with a number of different (non-projector) machines and software. This includes optimized integration with other PST products such as MR-safe button-response boxes and E-Prime stimulus presentation software (e.g., used to display images or administer experimental tasks), which records timing information with millisecond accuracy and shares this with other concurrently recording machines (i.e., MRI-pulses, eye-tracker, central and peripheral nervous systems). Unlike most other stimuli presentation software, the software is explicitly compatible with our other systems (Brain Vision for brain and body system measurements, and Eyelink used for tracking eye movements as a participant views visual displays) and the computer code required to facilitate communication between these systems is readily available. These systems must properly cooperate.
Timing is of the utmost importance for our research and PST equipment has software designed for speedy transmission. Additionally, the monetary cost of replacing all the existing projector equipment and cables (e.g., specialized fiber optic cables) would be high as would be the man-hours required to install and adapt a different system into our existing framework.
