Requirement:
Philadelphia VA Medical Center (VAMC) requires 100 Pneumatic Compression Pumps for use in inpatient units and operating rooms to support prevention of venous thromboembolism.
Scope of Work:
These pneumatic compression devices shall be utilized to prevent venous thromboembolism (VTE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with limited mobility, including post-operative, surgical, and medically compromised Veterans receiving inpatient care.
Deliverables:
100 New pneumatic compression pumps meeting minimum salient characteristics
Staff training in consistent and proper use of the equipment
All operational and maintenance manuals for equipment
Delivery shall occur Monday-Friday, excluding Federal Holidays between 7am-2pm ET.
The Kendall SCD Smartflow Device is provided as an example for salient characteristics only; no brand-name requirement is intended.
Salient Characteristics:
Backlit digital display with large icons and color LCD screen for ease of visibility
Backup buttons to pause therapy if needed
Animated alerts to show errors and provide troubleshooting guidance
Housing with soft overmold and built-in vibration dampeners for quiet operation
Ability to pause therapy- while ensuring therapy time is properly measured
Must detect vascular refill rates and automatically adjust cycle times to patient venous refill rates at least every 30 minutes
Ability to detect patient s presence through sensing technology and sound alarm when machine is disconnected
Ability to automatically detect if therapy is being applied
Ability to display and record therapy times as well as non-therapy times
Ability to store multiple days of monitoring records
Must include circumferential gradient sleeves for increased blood flow to alleviate pain and swelling
Housing with soft overmold and built-in vibration dampeners to promote whisper-quiet operation.
Pump shall resist splashes of water
Casing includes adjustable hanging bed hook
Device shall be compatible with hospital-grade cleaning supplies
