VA New Jersey Health Care System s Research and Development Service located at 385 Tremont Avenue East Orange, NJ 07018-1023 is seeking to purchase SomnoFlo Electronic Vaporizer Systems Brand Name or Equal.
All interested companies shall provide quotations for the following:
STATEMENT OF WORK
Contract Title: SomnoFlo Electronic Vaporizer Systems Brand Name or Equal
Station: VA New Jersey Health Care System (VANJHCS) (STA 561)
Service Line: Research and Development Service
Background: VANJHCS was awarded funds for two survival surgery stations and two non-survival surgery stations by the Lab Animal Major Equipment (LAM) program, which is sponsored by VHA s Office of Research and Development (ORD). Our current survival surgery station was constructed in-house 20+ years ago and has become a subject of concern identified by safety inspections. It was not designed for the use of isoflurane during prolonged surgeries, and with our transition away from narcotics to isoflurane, the associated infrastructure needs to change as well for the safety of the staff in the Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU).
The creation of four separate surgery stations requires each to have a dedicated vaporizer system to deliver the anesthetic gas (isoflurane). Currently, there is an 8-year-old system that is moved around to accommodate the need for survival and non-survival surgeries within the VMU building. This has added to the wear-and-tear on the tubing and the connectors. Therefore, we are requesting to purchase a singular dedicated system for each surgical station. This should elongate the life of the connectors and tubing and remove a level of complexity and safety that is involved when moving around compressed gases.
Scope: The Research and Development Service is requesting a new requirement to purchase 4 dedicated vaporizer systems (Electronic Vaporizer Systems) to deliver anesthetic gas (isoflurane) to 4 separate surgery stations. The vaporizer system, and connected surgery stations, will be for rat and mouse surgeries and are not associated with any specific laboratory.
Serves as both an anesthesia setup and vaporizer - it directly connects to the animal via the induction chamber and nose cone for both induction and animal surgery. This dual function eliminates the need to purchase an additional, standalone vaporizer set up.
Utilizes room air, eliminating the need for additional oxygen tanks.
Uses less anesthetic than traditional vaporizers (down to 0.05 LPM), and this significantly reduces anesthetic waste and spillover into the room and reduces possible inhalation by technicians.
Salient characteristics:
The system directly connects to the animal via the induction chamber and nose cone for both induction and animal surgery, eliminating the need to purchase an additional, standalone vaporizer set up.
Calculates the individual required anesthesia for each animal based on the animal s weight, ensuring the animal is receiving the proper amount of anesthetic throughout the course of the procedure and greatly reducing chance of over or under anesthetizing the animal.
Draws anesthetic directly from the bottle, reducing the risk of spillage and inhalation.
Contains a feature that properly disposes of any waste and unused medication, ensuring very limited technician contact with isoflurane.
Touchscreen control.
Flow rates from 50mL/min to 1L/min Anesthetic delivery control at 0.1% intervals.
Electronic sensor auto regulates gas flow.
Two modes of operation, ambient air and compressed gas.
Compatible with isoflurane and sevoflurane.
No annual maintenance requirements
Delivery shall be provided no later than 30 days after receipt of order (ARO)
